First of all, you may be wondering…
What exactly is the soft opt-in?
Well, it’s straightforward. Soft opt-in is obtaining an internet user’s consent without requiring them to take explicit action in our favor.
You know, like when some websites offer pre-checked boxes on their forms or when you come across the famous message “By continuing to browse our site, you accept our cookies.”
That’s soft opt-in.
The new – and temporary – feature on Axeptio
If you’re here, you know us, and you know that we like to be transparent with Internet users!
However, some of our clients wondered if the soft opt-in logic could be found on Axeptio.
Since we like to take care of them, we have responded to their requests, which is why you can now find this new option using our software. Wait, don’t move; let me show you how it works:
As you can see, while some only leave a tiny banner at the bottom of your screen to deliver the message, we still prefer to keep our beautiful box visible to warn the internet user.
Similarly, based on your settings, your box will appear when you want. The slight difference is that now there is no need for the internet user to click on the “I accept” button.
If, after a specific time – which is also configurable- you are free to set the duration you want! – If the internet user does not take any action and continues browsing your site, then the little blue bar you saw in the photo above will end, which will therefore be considered consent.
If we offer this feature, it is precisely because there is a specific demand behind it, but again, we are doing it our way.
However, it is wise to remind you that soon – within six months at most – the laws regarding cookies will change, so you will no longer be able to use such a feature, as the CNIL intends to sanction companies practicing soft opt-in.
The friendly advice
Since Axeptio has always been – and will always be – a user-oriented solution, we would like to share our thoughts with you!
We are in an era where permission marketing is tomorrow’s marketing, as the new rules from the CNIL once again prove.
Today, internet users like to have control over the data they leave on the web. Well-informed for over a year now, they are more demanding, and rightly so!
After receiving numerous feedback from our clients, we can assure you that being honest with your internet users is not detrimental to you. On the contrary, it leaves a positive impression on their minds.
Our clients often report an acceptance rate of over 90% precisely because we have an honest approach to internet users, making them more willing to accept cookies.
So, even though this new feature is appearing, we advise you to stay ahead of the upcoming laws and get used to a proper opt-in now!
